After pregnancy, a lot of women do not feel comfortable with their changed and sometimes damaged body. Stretch marks, distended abdominal muscles, breast ptosis, wrinkles around the eyes, extra pounds : a lot of women choose cosmetic surgery to correct these post-pregnancy changes.
Patients have to wait at least 6 months after pregnancy ends to consider cosmetic surgery. A period of 6 months after the end of breastfeeding is also necessary for patients considering breast surgery.
Which procedures can help women restore their pre-baby body ?
Liposuction is often needed to remove unsightly fat bulges. Patients are advised to reach or get close to their pre-baby weight in order for liposuction to be as efficient as possible. Areas with a high number of stretch marks in the skin are usually bad liposuction areas.
Tummy tuck and diastasis treatment
This procedure can remove excess skin in the abdominal region with an incision along the bikini line (lower stomach). Skin is often distended during pregnancy in this area. If needed, the procedure can also tighten stretched vertical abdominal muscles (the term diastasis refers to the separation of these naturally bonded muscles) and restore normal skin tension.
Very often, breasts lose volume and sag slightly after pregnancy and / or breastfeeding. When only breast volume has changed, breast implants or fat grafting can be used to restore normal proportions. If breast volume loss is associated with breast ptosis (breast sagging), mastopexy, or breast lift, can be performed during the same operation to correct breast position. For some patients, breast reduction is needed to decrease excessive breast volume after pregnancy.
